Silver Lake Lodge at Deer Valley Wedding: Chelsea + David

It was going to be the Best Day Ever.

From the moment David proposed to Chelsea and the wedding planning began, that was their motto. As she tried on dresses and he was fitted for his suit, as the colors were chosen and flowers discussed, as they tasted the food and picked out the wines, everything was meticulously planned to create the most amazing day they could imagine.

When the day finally came, all the last details fell perfectly into place. As the dress was buttoned and her soft curls fell gently on her shoulders, Chelsea’s smile could not have shone brighter. As the sun glinted from above and Chelsea walked down the aisle, David’s eyes could not have been filled with more love. They laughed and hugged and celebrated with their guests. They ate cake before because life is too short to not eat dessert first. They toasted to their loved ones with so much thanks for all the help in creating their wedding day. And of course they danced. They danced, and dance, and then danced some more, until sun was gone and the moon and stars sparkled in the night sky, and the band called last song…

It was the Best Day Ever.

Married: Chelsea + David

This wedding took place on a gorgeous day in June up in the mountains of Deer Valley. Chelsea and David worked very hard to add lots of personal touches and enjoyable elements to their day, and it totally showed! My personal favorite was the place cards… they wrote a different fun, quirky, or sentimental movie quote for every single guest! Well, that and the fact that they ate dessert first ;) Chels and David, thank you so much for giving me the privilege of documenting your wedding!! I can’t tell you how awesome it was to be a part of a such a meaningful and heartfelt celebration. It’s an honor to share an anniversary with you! Seriously the best day ever :) I hope that you guy had an absolutely incredible time on your honeymoon!! XO

I love the crop on the full size first dance photo! Love the sunset portraits as well. Perfect sunsplashes!

Happy 4th of July!

When it comes to the 4th of July, I’m a big fan. Parades, fireworks, bbq’s, American pride… Ah yes, nothing like the country coming together for a day to celebrate the beautiful land we live on, and the independence that was fought for to get us where we are. I hope that everyone has a safe and fantastic holiday!! Enjoy a few sparklers for me ;)

Happy Birthday ‘Merica! And from my family to yours, Happy 4th to all of you :)

Music Monday

I’ve always been a huge fan of sleeping. I mean, I know everyone enjoys a good night’s sleep. But I reeeeally enjoy it. Sleeping in, midmorning snoozes, afternoon catnaps… Pretty much just sleeping in general. And it’s no secret that I am a much cheerier person to be around if I have gotten good sleep. I’m and 8-10 hour a night girl. Less than 7 and you might want to stay away from until I’ve had some coffee.

But now? Ohhhh now. NOW if I don’t get enough sleep, I’m pretty much dead to the world. People say pregnant women need to eat for two, well turns out I’m sleeping for two. Let me put it this way. If the zombie apocalypse happened now I’d be totally safe, because I’d legitimately be mistaken for a zombie. Not pretty. Fortunately though, being your own boss means that taking really long naps during the workday is completely necessary and unavoidable acceptable every once in a while. Cheers to catching a few extra zzz’s!

Anyways. It wouldn’t be Music Monday without a pretty melody for your enjoyment! Daughter came out with two short, self-released albums in 2011, and I was smitten. I love every song they’ve done. They were signed to a UK label last year and just released their debut album, which is phenomenal. Go have have a listen if you have some spare time today. But here is one of my favorites from one of their 2011 albums, called Medicine.

Louland Falls Wedding: Cheryl + Jeff

Sometimes, making big decisions in life takes a long time to think about and come to a conclusion. They require a lot of reflection and consideration before the right decision can be made. And other times, the answer is so clear, so obvious that it seems silly to ponder over. Your heart tells you what’s right before your head even has a chance to comprehend it. Those other times, you just know.

Such was the case when the cute guy from church asked Cheryl to coffee on a brisk autumn day. Such was the case when the girl he was falling hard for invited Jeff to fly to Minnesota and meet her family over Christmas. Such was the case when Jeff got down on his knee that chilly February day and asked Cheryl to be his wife. And such was the case when they both said “I Do” on that sunny June day…

In their hearts, they just knew.

Married: Cheryl + Jeff

Life in Instagram

As a photographer, people often concur that I must document everything and have amazing photos of the little everyday things that make up my life. Well, they would be wrong. At least, wrong in thinking that I take my camera everywhere I go. I mean, I guess in one sense I do… just, not the camera you’re probably thinking of. I don’t bring my Mark III with everywhere I go. But I do always have my iPhone. And with that, I take plenty of pictures! (Ask Jake. He’s had to pause before a meal one too many times so that I could take a picture of the food before we start eating…) I love Instagram for allowing me to document the little every day things that make up my life. They not may be amazing, but they are snippets of life that I probably would not have otherwise. Gotta love technology :) Here’s a peek at what I’ve been up to the last couple months!

Happy Wednesday!
