Salt Lake City Newborn Session: Eva

Remember lovely Suzi and her husband Ryan? Well, their little girl was born last month, and I had the honor of photographing this new family together!! Their pups Dana and Taryn even got in on the action. Love that! And Eva is just beautiful, though I would have expected nothing less from her wonderful parents :) Enjoy some of my favorites from this sweet session!

Happy Valentine’s Day!

It’s Friday AND it’s Valentine’s Day!! Oh happy day! I love this holiday, because I believe love should be celebrated. And I’m not just talking about love between spouses and significant others. I’m talking about love in every shape and form, between family, between friends, between everyone important in your life! So I hope that you’ve all given and received lots of love today :)

Sadly, Jake has to work tonight. (Don’t worry, we celebrated last night with a hilarious movie and I ate a week’s worth of calories via dinner and chocolate covered strawberries.) But that means I’m spending my evening with this little blue-eyed peanut!! Can’t say I’m complaining ;) And Natalie wanted to wish you all a happy Valentine’s Day too!!

Park City Senior Session: Livy

Meet the beautiful and talented Livy! She’ll be graduating from Park City High School this year, and I had the honor of taking her senior pictures :) She’s pretty awesome when it comes to kicking a soccer ball around, but really she’s pretty much just an awesome person in general. She was one of my very last shoots before going on maternity leave, and to say it was a good shoot would be an immense understatement. Not only is she gorgeous and extremely photogenic (I mean, just LOOK at those green eyes!), but she and her mom are hilarious. I’m usually the one trying to make people laugh during shoots, but those two had me laughing basically the entire time. Yep, loved this session!! Enjoy a few of my faves from last fall :)

A Puppy, a Clydesdale, and Ellen

Jake and I actually hosted a Super Bowl party for the first time yesterday. I cleaned the house (a big feat for me these days), we added some chairs to the living, family and a few close friends came over, copious amounts of food were devoured, and everyone sat around watching the slow and painful demise of the Broncos. I mean, yikes. I really feel bad for Peyton and the boys in orange. More than anything I wanted a good game, but I was in favor of the Broncos. Really though, it was just because I wanted to see Michael Strahan look like a long lost Duck Dynasty brother. But I am super stoked that he made it into the Hall of Fame! (I just love that show by the way. Jake says I’m officially a mom because I watch Live with Kelly and Michael now. Whatevs, that’s fine with me. That show is hilarious and brightens my morning. Who doesn’t love a little Kelly and Mike with their breakfast?! Let’s be honest, Jake secretly loves it too, even if it’s “mom” show. Ha. But I digress.)

Anyhow, it’s a sad Super Bowl when the game is boring, but it’s a REALLY sad Super Bowl when the commercials are boring too. Double whammy. Did I just miss the good ones? (I’ll admit I was possibly stuffing my face munching on snacks and chatting with people more than watching.) Either way, I wasn’t that impressed this year. These were my two favorites:

A puppy and a clydesdale won my heart? Duh.

And of course Ellen is just awesome.

Here’s to hoping next year will be better ;) Happy Monday everyone!

Natalie’s Fox Themed Nursery

Remember that time I blogged about the nursery inspiration board and how I’d share pictures a few weeks before Natalie was born? Well how about 3.5 months AFTER she was born? (My bad.) I thought I’d have it done and ready for her several weeks before the due date. Boy was I wrong. I literally finished it in the wee morning hours while I was in labor. (I know, I’m kinda crazy.) She did come a week early, but when I realized it was happening, I started freaking out and went into ridiculous nesting mode and THE.NURSERY.HAD.TO.BE.FINISHED. I was more concerned with finishing it than I was about packing my hospital bag. (Yeah, hadn’t done that either. Told you I was crazy.) Needless to say, I finished it, but not without lots of help!!

My wonderful mother-in-law helped so much! She helped me sort clothes and toys, sewed the pendants for Natalie’s banner, and if I couldn’t find what I wanted, she would make it! I couldn’t find the right blush color for the crib sheet, so I picked a fabric I liked and she sewed the sheet and skirt for the crib. My incredible mom was another huge help! She spent hours helping paint the walls, washed the baby clothes and ironed the curtains, and was there for any little project I needed done. So thankful for her! My lovely cousin Alyssa also helped big time! She picked out fabrics and decor with me, and she was there at the last second working on the poms and mobile with me while I was having contractions. (Which is true love if you ask me lol.) The nursery would not have come to life without them.

And of course I have to thank Jake. My sweet, caring, resourceful Jake. He knew I had a vision for it and worked SO hard to make it happen. From painting to putting together the crib to hanging the shelves and pictures to hunting relentlessly for the perfect dresser/changing table, he’s officially my hero. Love him so much.

Anyhow, without further ado, here is the nursery!! I’m really not one to brag, but considering this is the only room in our entire house that is completely finished how I want it, I’m kinda proud of it. Haha.

I hunted for a long time to find fox pictures for the walls. I didn’t want real pictures, but I also didn’t want silly, cartoonish foxes… So I was VERY excited when I found these b-e-a-utiful paintings on Etsy by Alison Fennell! They are perfect.

The chevron rug was one of the first things I got for the nursery. I knew it wouldn’t be complete without a little chevron!

And here is the mobile that I finished making at about 3am the day Natalie came!! Jake had cut down the branch a few days before, and Alyssa helped punch out the million and one circles for me. It took forever to glue them all and hang them, but I’m very happy with how it turned out and Natalie loves it, so that makes it all worth it :)

Love your post! Super trendy and cute. Just wondering where you got the wood craved fox on the table by the wood blocks?
Thanks,
Lynn

Carissa - April 2, 2014 - 3:20 pm

Thank you so much Lynn! The wooden fox was a gift from my mother-in-law, and she actually got it from Kohl’s :)
