Park City Anytime: (Senior) Ashley

Meet the fabulous Ashley! She’s a senior at Park City High School this year. She’s got some wicked dance moves and some of the most gorgeous blue eyes you’ll ever see. We spent the afternoon together taking pictures, and let me say, this girl made my job easy! As you might notice, I don’t necessarily take the most traditional senior pictures, but she completely trusted me and was down for trying anything that popped into this crazy head of mine. She did it beautifully, too, I might add. But don’t take my word for it. Just look at her pictures…

Ashley, you are an incredible person, and it was an honor to take your senior pictures! Whatever you decide to do next year, I have no doubt you’ll succeed in it. And I hope you love these pictures as much as I loved taking them : )

Told you she was beautiful…

I love this one. You make that v-neck look good, Ashley.

So very lovely.

We headed out to one more spot before we lost light. And was that light ever good to us…

Stunning.

Lurrrve these.

Pretty pretty pretty girl!

Killin’ it right here.

I’ll end on her beautiful smile.

Thanks again for wanting to spend some time in front of my camera Ashley!! I hope the rest of your senior year is as fabulous as you are : )

Park City Engagements: Brittany + Kevin

It started with a casual dinner date. Which went pretty well. Well enough that it lead to a few more casual dinner dates. That’s when Brittany decided they should make it official, unbeknownst to Kevin. Because when Brittany knows what she wants, well, she knows. Haha. Fortunately, though, Kevin figured it out rather quickly. He was more than happy to oblige, too. Because he wanted her right back.

And so a year went by. Followed by another, and another. They stayed busy with school, work, and living life to the full, all the while doing it together. Until four years later, Kevin decided it was time to make it really official. On what Brittany thought was just another one of their dinner dates, Kevin bent down on one knee outside of the restaurant and proposed to the woman he wanted to spend the rest of his life with. Officially. Of course, she said yes. They went inside and celebrated, with a free dessert to boot. And maybe several more free desserts in the following weeks. After all, what better way to celebrate an engagement than a free dessert?! These are my kind of people ; ) Soon, though, they’ll be getting free desserts for being newlyweds. For being married. For being together for the rest of their lives. Officially : )

Brittany and Kevin brought their dogs along for a few pictures, which I thoroughly enjoyed! Reba and Zeus were total sweethearts.

Pretty Reba. I love that her eyes are two different colors!

And feisty Zeus. He’s definitely a lovable rascal!

Butt shot! Haha.

Kevin is always making Brittany laugh : )

This right here? This is what I like to call The Smolder.

And Kevin has The Smolder down to a T.

Work it!!

Brittany, you are gorrrgeous.

Love.

We headed out to one more spot before the we lost light. Brittany brought these chalk signs, and I was kind of obsessed with them lol.

Guys, stop being so adorable. Seriously.

Yep, smoldering.

Brittany, you belong in a magazine. F’real.

Last but not least, we pulled out a blanket and some wine to celebrate : )

So. Stinking. Adorable.

This one seems appropriate to end on. I can’t look at it without smiling…

Congratulations again you two!!!! Xoxo.

Park City Anytime: The Pfeifers

Today’s family has a special place in my heart. Brian has been the youth pastor at my church for the past 10 years. He was my youth pastor through high school, and he is the reason I wanted to work with the youth when I come back after college. His wife Liz has been an incredible encouragement and role model, not to mention she makes the best cookies in the state of Utah. And when their son Ashton came along? Let’s just say his little fireball personality always adds a level of entertainment when he’s around!

However, for the past 3 years, the Pfeifers have been pursuing another addition to their family… Jordis. Even as a little girl, Liz knew that she wanted to adopt when she was older, and Brian shared that dream when they started their lives together. This summer their dream finally came true as they brought little Jordis home from Ethiopia. It was such an exciting time!! They had waited so patiently for so long, gone through many hardships in the adoption process and made many trips to Africa. But it all paid off now that this sweet girl is a part of the Pfeifer family : )

A couple months ago, they decided it was time to step down from Brian’s position at the church, and move closer to family. While I’m very sad to say goodbye to such dear friends, I am also thrilled for them and this new chapter in their lives! Brian and Liz, you guys will be missed dearly by many people. The lives you’ve touched and the legacy you’ve left will not soon be forgotten. And let’s be real, there might be some serious withdrawals from Liz’s cookies! Haha. But in all seriousness, thank you for all that you’ve done. I know your new life in Iowa has some wonderful things in store. And know that Jake and I will definitely be out to visit soon : ) Much love!!

The beautiful Pfeifer Family!

Ashton is always doing something hilarious : )

Also, how great is his hair??

Even though it was freezing, kids always love to play with water… Haha.

How cute are these two?!

You could say this family is known for making goofy faces… haha.

The lovely Brian and Liz : )

I know this one is a little blurry… But I still love it. Hahaha.

I’ll end on this : )

Love you guys!!

Music Monday

I’ll be honest. Giving up wheat has been difficult. I’d be lying if I said I’ve been perfect thus far. (My biggest downfall was two days ago when I ate a bit of a chocolate donut. I definitely paid for that one. But it was kind of worth it. Haha.) For the most part, though, I’m pretty proud of how strict I’ve been. And I thought I’d give a little shout out to the bread that’s made it easier for me thus far… Canyon Bakehouse Cinnamon Raisin bread! Give me a cup of a coffee and some gluten free cinnamon raisin toast for breakfast, and you have a happy Carissa. (Yes, I did just finish my delectable toast and coffee, which is why I am blogging about it. Fresh on the mind, ya know?)

Anyhow. This month’s Music Monday is brought to you by Zee Avi! I could listen to her voice alllll day. Particularly this song. If you really pay attention to what she’s singing about, though, it’s actually a bit of a sad song. But I still love it. Hopefully some of you will too : ) Here is her cute video for the song “Bitter Heart”:

Happy Monday! Make it a good one : )

Sioux Falls Wedding: Wendee + Marc

He calls Wendee his principessa. And Marc is her prince charming. For a good reason, too. He treats her like royalty, and she respects and admires his leadership. The love they share is so strong, so true, you could say it’s the stuff of fairytales. And while it very well might be, they also understand that a happily ever after is not magic.

After toasts from the best man and maid of honor, Wendee and Marc stood up to do a toast of their own. A toast to their parents. They thanked them for setting such excellent examples of what love looks like. Of what a marriage should be. And for showing Marc and Wendee how to be a team. They raised their glasses to dedication, to respect, to compromise, to trust, and above all, to love. A love and understanding that will, no doubt, lead the their happily ever after : )

Marc and Wendee, thank you SO much for welcoming me like one of the family! It was so fun to be a part of your wedding, and more so, to celebrate your love. The love you guys share is the kind of love that makes me feel so blessed to do what I do. So thank you for that : ) I wish you guys the happily ever after you deserve!!

A few details to begin with… They got married at Wendee’s hometown church. Love that!

I adored her dress. So simple and elegant.

Her bouquet was gorgeous!

She kept her bridal party simple, asking her sister to be her maid of honor.

After final preparations and a short prayer, it was time to head down the aisle!

I adored the way they looked at each other…

Newlyweds!!

After the ceremony, they had a short and sweet cake reception.

When the reception ended, we headed to a nearby park for photos. And what gorgeous light we had!

Wendee, you looked absolutely stunning. There is no other word to describe you!

At one point I had to change memory cards, and after I switched them, I looked up just in time to see this happening…

They were just so excited to be married : )

Lurrrve this.

Boom. Marc, you’re a stud.

And Wendee, I don’t have to repeat how gorgeous you are!

Workin’ it!!

I can hardly handle how adorable they are.

Suave.

I’ll finish up with this, a perfect summation of their relationship.

Congratulations again you guys!!!! Xoxo
