Everything’s Bigger in Texas

Jake and I have been visiting his family in Texas this past week. I packed lots of shorts and bathing suits, expecting 70 degree weather and pool time. Sadly, it’s been nothing but 55 degrees and rain. (I’m just glad I decided to stick a sweatshirt in there last second.) And for those wondering, yes, we DID check the forecast, which told us it would be warm and sunny all week. How rude.

So what do we do when it’s crummy weather all week? Sleep in, hit the gym, do some shopping, and watch movies. Oh, did I mention that we eat? Because we eat. Massive amounts of food. It’s impossible not to. The food down here is so stinking good. Plus the portions are gigantic. You might be familiar with the saying “Everything’s bigger in Texas”… well, if you’ve ever doubted it, I’m here to tell you it’s true.

I’m not just talking about the food, either. What I’m mainly talking about is MY HAIR. I have very thick and curly hair to begin with. The dry Utah climate is good to my hair. (A.k.a. not too frizzy and out of control.) However, my hair + intense humidity = a curly fro that rivals Simba’s mane. (The grown Simba. Not baby Simba.) And it takes forever to dry. Just thought I’d throw that in there.

All of that being said, we’ve been having a fantastic time. I wouldn’t change a thing about it so far, weather included. Because even though things may be bigger in Texas, nothing beats some quality family time :) Can I get an amen?

Hope everyone has a lovely Monday!

Heritage Park Wedding Portraits: Roni + Tim

Do I have some prettiness for you today! Roni and Tim aren’t getting married until the end of the month, but I get to show you a little preview of what’s to come. We got together on a chilly afternoon to take some pictures, and even though Mr. Sun decided not to show his face, it didn’t stop them from having fun. There were awesome amounts of laughter,  soft moments of love, and definitely lots of rockin’ it for my camera. Enjoy some of my favorites of these two lovebirds :)

WPPI 2012

I finally had a chance to sit down and go through the photos I took at WPPI, and if I had to pick one word to sum them up, it would be random. I took a really random series of pictures this year. But then again, that’s sort of what Vegas is… And sometimes you just have to embrace the randomness, you know?

So here is a random look at my time in Vegas. And to Ali, Janey, and Haley, thank you. You guys are wonderful, beautiful people, inside and out. After traveling together for 8 hours in a blizzard, sharing meals, stories, beds, and a whole lot of laughs, there is no one else I would have wanted to go with. Thank you for making this year even better than last year. I’m blessed to call you guys my friends. Xo.

A Month in Instagrams

Happy Leap Day yesterday! Anyone do something really fun and exciting? No? Me either.

Unless you count finishing FebPhotoADay something really fun and exciting. Ha. For those who aren’t familiar, the PhotoADay challenge is a list that comes out each month for Instagram users. The list contains something to take a picture every day of that particular month. When I first heard about it in January, I thought Oh, that could be fun! It would almost be like being back in school and having a daily assignment! Yes, I seriously thought that. I realize this makes me really lame.

But, I decided to do it, with the goal of pushing myself to think outside of the box and try to create original pictures, not just the first thing that came to mind. (If you haven’t guessed by now, I was a bit of an over-acheiver in school… And yes, I realize this still makes me really lame.) Anyhow, yesterday was the last day of February. Thus the last day of FebPhotoADay. Now that it’s over, I remember why I was so glad to graduate and be done with school. Haha. But it’s still kind of cool to be able to go back and look at each picture, to remember each day of the month…

Procrastination by Pinterest

What’s your favorite way to procrastinate? My list (yes, sadly, I have a list) includes Gossip Girl, blog stalking, singing songs to my dogs, and Pinterest. Especially Pinterest. Although I don’t pin very often, I looove looking at what’s trending and what my friends are pinning. This morning while I was procrastinating (writing this blog post, ironically), I actually pinned a few things. So I decided to share. In case any of you love seeing other people’s pins as much as I do. Here are a few of my boards and recent pins :)

The style… I can pull off in my Head:

Cameron Diaz keeping it classy in peach pants. Love it paired with the jacket.

This dress? Makes me drool. When I first saw I made a frantic search for it because it needed to be in my closet. Like , I scoured the internet for probably a good hour. Alas, I never did find it…

This makes me Laugh:

THE greatest bib ever made.

This water bottle pretty much sums up my life in one sentence. P.S. if anyone feels obliged to get one of these for me I’ll love you forever ;)

The way to my heart is my Stomach:

A cake. With ruffles. And it’s pink. Need I say more?

Homemade blackberry ice cream with fresh blackberries on top. Heavenly. (Also, notice how both of the foods I posted are dessert? This would be why that water bottle is necessary…)

No place like Home:

Here’s how I will be decorating my future guest room. Admit it, you’d want to stay there.

I need this clock. No, seriously, I need it because I’m horrible at telling time.

I completely Agree:

Self-explanatory.

And this last one I dedicate to my mom for all those years I didn’t want to clean my room…

Happy Monday :)
