Park City Mountain Resort Wedding: Sam + Mark

The drops started falling. Slowly at first, but soon the rain poured down from the sky without signs of stopping. And they simply stood, holding hands and smiling excitedly. Because that’s the kind of people Sam and Mark are. They light up when they’re together. Their joy for life spreads to everyone around them. And their love for each other doesn’t waver during a storm. So they held hands and smiled, ready to begin this journey together.

The drops started falling. Only one or two people at first, but soon tears filled the eyes of everyone in the room. And glasses were raised, clinging together in celebration. Because that’s the kind of people Sam and Mark are. They invest deeply in the people in their lives. They give without question. And they have the kind of relationships that fill family and friends with tears of love and laughter. So the words and tears continued on, full of love and memories and appreciation for Sam and Mark, wishing them  every happiness and then some.

And they held hands and smiled, beginning the journey of their lives… together.

Married: Sam & Mark

These two got married on a chilly spring day in Park City, and even though the rain came down hard, it didn’t stop them from having a beautiful and amazing wedding! They were surrounded by fifty of their closest friends and family as they promised their hearts to each other, which was then followed by one awesome dance party :) My favorite part about this wedding, though? Every single part of it was filled with SO much joy! It was one of the most joyful weddings I’ve ever had the privilege of being a part of, and not one I will soon forget. Sam and Mark, it was truly an honor to be your photographer!! I absolutely loved capturing your wedding, and I hope that these images will fill you with just as much joy as you felt on your wedding day, for many years to come. Much love and appreciation!!

Happy Wednesday everyone! Today I’m excited to bring you Liz and Scott’s lovely engagements session :) We met on a such gorgeous evening, the weather could not have been more perfect! I thoroughly enjoyed walking around with these guys and getting to know them and their families, who came along to be on dog patrol. Because did I mention their dogs?? They have two MASSIVE Great Danes who came along for a few photos!! I’ll be honest, Titus and Lena stole my heart a little bit. Just don’t tell Zuka and Akiva ;)

Thanks for such a fun evening you two!! SO excited for your wedding next month! :)

Piazza in the Village Texas Wedding: Amanda + Blaine

She glanced at herself in the mirror, took a sip of her Monster, and smiled. Sitting in her mom’s bathroom, her family bustling around the house in preparation, Amanda smoothed her veil and watched the last pieces of her hair fall perfectly into place. A light breeze rustled through the leaves outside and the sun poured through the windows of the home, a welcome change of weather from the rain and thunder all week. Yes, it was going to be a perfect day. All that was left to do was slip into her gown and walk down the aisle to her groom. So as she sat getting ready in that house for the last time, she smiled.

He glanced at the clock on the wall, shifted his feet, and smiled. Standing at the alter, music rolling off of the piano keys, Blaine straightened his jacket and watched the chapel doors in anticipation. Their guests stood and light poured through the doors as they swung open, Amanda shining radiantly as she walked down the aisle. Yes, the day could not be more perfect. All that was left to do was take her hand and promise to be true to her as long as they both shall live. So as he stood at the front of the chapel ready to share his home, his life with the woman walking towards him, he smiled.

Married: Amanda + Blaine

Amanda and Blaine got married on a gorgeous spring day in Texas! In a beautiful chapel they vowed to love each other through thick and thin, sealing it with a kiss. Then with their family and friends they celebrated their marriage with laughter, tears, and of course, dancing the night away :) Amanda and Blaine, thank you so much for entrusting me with the honor of documenting your wedding!! It was such a joy to celebrate with you! Huge thank you to you and your families for making me feel so welcome and showing me some real southern hospitality… and taking me to get some Cocoa Krispies ;) Wishing you guys many, many years of bliss together!!

Green with… Indecisiveness

So remember that time I promised to post pictures of our new house after we had gotten more settled? Well yeah, that hasn’t happened yet. The settling or the pictures, that is. The day after I blogged that post I found out I was pregnant. And then about a week after that the morning sickness hit. And well, clearly those weren’t the most productive few months for me… Needless to say my office is still a raging hot mess, I don’t know where half of my earrings or shoes are, and we still haven’t totally unpacked all of our clothes. (Which maybe means we, ok mostly I, have too many clothes. But that’s another blog post.)

We have made a little progress though! We actually have a guest bed now, which I’m pretty excited about. I mean, Jake is too, he just wasn’t as excited about the fact that we went in planning on buying a comforter and came out spending twice as much because I couldn’t say no to all the little decorative pillows that matched so perfectly. But you’ve gotta have the decorative pillows! Am I right, or am I right?? Anyway. We’ve also started working on the outside of the house. (And by we I mean Jake.) It was vacant for almost a year before we moved in, and it’s definitely in need of a little love. So we’ve started the process of fixing the exterior!

Well, almost started… we just have to finalize our decision on colors. And man, I had NO idea how difficult of a task that would be. Why do there have to be so many different shades of brown? Brown is a neutral color. It shouldn’t be this hard. And don’t even get me started on olive green! River Bank, Crocodile, Lemon Pepper, Ground Ginger, Wanderer, Desert Shadows… Oy. It makes me miss the days of coloring books and markers, when you only had 8 colors to choose from to bring Winnie the Pooh to life. Then again, it was a pretty awesome day when I got my first pack of 20 markers…

All that to say, there will be before and after pictures of the house, assuming we can decide on colors ;) Happy Monday!

Salt Lake City Hogle Zoo Engagements: April + Jeremy

It seemed appropriate that he should bring her back to the zoo that day, to the place where it all began…

The first time April and Jeremy went to the zoo together, something clicked. They just connected. Like pieces of a puzzle snapping into place. They laughed at the monkeys, enjoyed the elephants, and decided the giraffes were their favorite. In fact, they had such a good time, they decided to get season passes so they could go whenever they wanted. And as they continued to date, more of the puzzle pieces fell snugly into place. Over dinners and drinks, movie dates and vacations, and of course, the zoo, they began to realize that their lives fit together quite perfectly.

So on that day, Jeremy asked April to meet him at the zoo after work. They walked hand in hand for bit, until he found the spot he was looking for. Then, in front of their favorite giraffes, he got down on his knee and asked April to be his wife.

And there they started to live out their happily ever after, at the place where it all began.

Engaged: April & Jeremy

For their engagement session, we obviously had to take some pictures at the zoo! Unfortunately, when we went there was a lot of construction happening around the zoo to get ready for the summer, so we weren’t able to get many with animals. But we definitely made sure to grab some with the giraffes ;) April and Jeremy, thank you so much for such a fun evening at the zoo!!! I absolutely adore you guys and I had such a great time photographing the love you share. And April, you totally rock for hiking all over that hill in your heels!! ;) Can’t wait for your wedding in September! XO

What beautiful, awesome pictures of my daughter and soon to be son-in-law. They both show their love in their eyes and their smiles. You’ve done a wonderful job. The story was exactly as April has shared it with me. The pictures are so very nice. Thank you for sharing them with us.
