A New Adventure

In just a few short months, the Uribes are going on a crazy adventure. We’ve known about it for a quite a while. Almost two years, actually. But it always seemed so far away. And suddenly, it’s on us like a newly engaged girl on Pinterest. I’ve thought about how I would announce it since the day we found out it was happening. Now that it really is time to announce it, though, I’m not sure how else to do it but just come out and say it…

WE’RE MOVING!!! We’ll be heading down to Texas, just outside of Houston, at the end of July!

I know what some of you are thinking. No, this is not an April Fool’s joke! (I’m not that clever.) I actually just realized today that it was April 1st even though I’d been planning on announcing it today for about a week now… Ha.

We’re moving there for Jake’s work, he’ll become an Air Traffic Controller at the Houston airport. Salt Lake is a level 10 and Houston is a level 12, and 12 is the highest level you can go, so needless to say I’m quite proud of him. #husbandbrag (Did I really just put a hashtag on my blog?!) Sure, he still has to train and certify when we get there, but I have total faith that he will in no time.

Part of me is very sad to be leaving family and friends and my hometown of Park City. My family moved to Park City when I was 5, so other than 4 years of college in Indiana, Utah is all I’ve ever really known. And I’ve loved being so close to my family, especially during these first months of my baby girl’s life. But another part of me is very at peace and extremely excited to be taking this jump with Jake and Natalie. We are ready for a change, excited for the challenges and fun that await us, and blessed beyond measure at this opportunity. I know this is part of God’s plan for us. (Although I’m not looking forward to the humidity. I’m growing out my bangs and I’ve thought about throwing out my straightener because ya’ll know what happens to my hair…) (Also, like how I threw that ya’ll in there?! I’m so ready.)

To all my wonderful Utah clients, I will be back often!!! Ultimately we plan on coming back to Park City at some point, so I definitely want to keep my business going here while trying to grow it in Texas. In fact, I already have Utah weddings booked in August, September, and October :) Which means if you want me to shoot your wedding, don’t worry, I will still be based out of Park City as well! And while I’m back for weddings, I will be taking a limited number of other shoots, too. So if you want a family/maternity/senior/etc. session, be sure to follow my fan page on Facebook, I will be announcing dates and times available for shoots when I’m back :) For those of you in Texas, well, I guess I should say Howdy!!! Just kidding. That was a lame joke. And for those of you anywhere else, I definitely still travel!!! I have weddings in California and Michigan this summer that I am thrilled about.

I’ll leave you with a few pictures from last week, because we went on a house hunting trip! Well really, we went to go check out the area and our goal was to narrow down a neighborhood or two that we wanted to live in… Yet somehow after 5 insanely full days of driving around and seeing houses, we had signed a contract and we are now BUILDING a house! CRAZY!!! But so exciting! I don’t know what else to say except that God is so good.

Here are Jake and Natalie on our lot!!! I’m pretty sad we don’t get to be there for a good chunk of the construction, but fortunately we have a wonderful realtor and also some good friends in the area who will be checking on it regularly and sending us pictures.

This is our new street. I think it has a nice ring to it!

And I can’t help but post this one of Natalie… This is how she cruises through the airport. Sitting straight up. While most babies would just lay back and enjoy the ride, she refuses. Apparently she likes people pointing and laughing and saying how cute she is ;) Silly kid.

Happy April 1st!
