Everything’s Bigger in Texas

Jake and I have been visiting his family in Texas this past week. I packed lots of shorts and bathing suits, expecting 70 degree weather and pool time. Sadly, it’s been nothing but 55 degrees and rain. (I’m just glad I decided to stick a sweatshirt in there last second.) And for those wondering, yes, we DID check the forecast, which told us it would be warm and sunny all week. How rude.

So what do we do when it’s crummy weather all week? Sleep in, hit the gym, do some shopping, and watch movies. Oh, did I mention that we eat? Because we eat. Massive amounts of food. It’s impossible not to. The food down here is so stinking good. Plus the portions are gigantic. You might be familiar with the saying “Everything’s bigger in Texas”… well, if you’ve ever doubted it, I’m here to tell you it’s true.

I’m not just talking about the food, either. What I’m mainly talking about is MY HAIR. I have very thick and curly hair to begin with. The dry Utah climate is good to my hair. (A.k.a. not too frizzy and out of control.) However, my hair + intense humidity = a curly fro that rivals Simba’s mane. (The grown Simba. Not baby Simba.) And it takes forever to dry. Just thought I’d throw that in there.

All of that being said, we’ve been having a fantastic time. I wouldn’t change a thing about it so far, weather included. Because even though things may be bigger in Texas, nothing beats some quality family time :) Can I get an amen?

Hope everyone has a lovely Monday!
